Yesterday we spoke to David about Ebbsfleet fixtures. Today we talk to Conference new boys Barnet and blogger and Sports Journalist Josh Ilan about the Bees fixtures on their return to the Conference.
On the whole, the fixtures could not have gone much better for Barnet.
We start the season at home to Chester, recently promoted to the Conference. A feisty affair between two good footballing sides; plus good opponents to open The Hive.
Our next two games are trips to Tamworth and Gateshead. Both are traditional Conference sides, which will help the club, players and fans get used to the realities of quality at a lower level. The latter fixture will be our longest journey, so it is great to get that out of the way early on.
Fast forward to the Boxing Day fixture, us Barnet fans got our dream fixture: Luton Town at home. Our reverse fixture to The Hatters is on New Year’s Day, with a trip to Salisbury in between.
If – in typicl Barnet fashion – we leave it to a late burst of form – the fixtures go kindly in our favour. In our final six fixtures, we have: Forest Green, Halifax Town and Braintree Town at home; Southport, Nuneaton Town and Lincoln City away – the latter will be our final game, not a bad way to end the season.
Unlike in previous years, the fixtures have gone in our favour. We ony have one far away Tuesday night game, that being Southport in April.
We also avoid a run of fixtures against probable promotion contenders, which may prove vital to our aspirations.
I, for one, am happy with our fixtures.
